I was sitting down to write an article and wondering what to write about. I decided to write about an experience I had in my life that not only changed my life, but significantly impacted my network marketing career. Looking back on it, I have determined that life is so dependent on where you are in your head and where you will go. Hang with me here and read on.

This story starts when I left my full-time job at a network marketing company. I began my MLM career thinking that will all that experience, I’d have no problems earning $100K in a matter months! Well, I was sorely mistaken. You see, I did my job of training & developing representatives by reading a lot about network marketing and then, simply teaching what I read. I didn’t truly implement what I learned because, at the end of the day, I was still a salaried employee and would get the same check at the end of the week. There was no motivation to practice these skills!

That said, at the point I started my business, I had already been working on my self-development, so I was in a good place mentally, but just not skilled yet. In my times of challenge, I’d sit down and look for answers. I still continued, however, to attend networking groups and got involved in recreational groups to expand my network. In one of my networking groups, I met another network marketer whom I had a lot in common with. We would have dinner and mastermind together. One day, she invited me to San Diego to a seminar her business coach, Jeffrey Combs, was hosting.

I wasn’t sure who Jeffrey Combs was, but if my friend Judith wanted me to meet him, I felt like I should. I drove to San Diego and that day was a defining moment in my life. I hired Jeffrey as my coach and part of my program was a 2 1/2 day seminar with Jeffrey entitled, ‘Breakthroughs to Success.’

This seminar will be a future article, altogether, but what I will say, is that is was absolutely life-changing in MANY ways! It was the first experience I have ever had with something being so life-changing. You see, I had had some very big hurdles hit me the prior year personally. They rocked my world and threw me into a tailspin. It was a HORRIBLE life experience that set in to motion some of the most positive things that have come to me in the last year.

How did I go from really bad experience to being in one of the best places I’ve ever been? When this particular challenge happened, I had to really take a look inside to see what led to it. I had to face some emotions and decisions that I had made to get me into that situation. I realized that I had made the situation, but what I realized, was that if I had the power to create a bad experience, I also had the power to create great experiences. I got my self there, I could get myself out and create only great things. I understood the power of our thoughts, our actions and our results!

I now understood how powerful the mind can be. I learned to forgive, to move forward and turn the rest of my life into MY life. I had the control on my thoughts, which then lead to my actions. I had an opportunity for a couple of years to move my family out West. I chose not to do it because of the people I’d hurt by leaving my town. Two months after coming to my realization, we packed up and moved West. We moved ultimately for the betterment of my family, but ultimately it was for ME. Six months later, I had decided to leave a job that was making me miserable. I made MAJOR decisions in order to get control back in my life. I no longer used the ‘What if…’ scenario…i.e. ‘What if I don’t like California,’ ‘What if I quit my job and I can’t make it work as a Network Marketer?’ ‘What if….’

I had to let go of the ‘What ifs’ if I wanted to take control. I truly believed that California was the place to go. I truly believed in myself as a network marketer, so again, no room for ‘What ifs.’ I would find the correct path no matter what.

I am still working towards my goals. I’ve reached some and still have ones that I have yet to check off the list. That said, what has been so inspiring is that when I have met a challenge, I believe the solution will appear and it always does. It’s been so amazing to see this all work and its inspiring. My wish is that EVERYONE will realize this power and change their lives for the positive, but I know most one. That is the sad reality!

My life has changed so drastically in 2 years. I see this future that is something that few will ever experience. Their head will get in the way. My purpose now is to only attract those people who ‘get it.’ Why? Because these are the ones that will stick it out. Will do whatever it takes. They may not be instant success stories, but they won’t suck me dry by trying to convince me the business doesn’t work. I want positive, big thinkers, certainly not negative ‘nellies.’ If you are a big thinker and someone who realizes they control their life, I’d love to connect offline. I want to surround myself with people like this. It’s so healthy and so inspiring. These are the like-minded people I want to be around. Not just people who like network marketing, but people who realize they control their destiny in network marketing. You never know where these relationships could lead! For thinkers like me, partnering with someone like me is powerful!
